Ingredients
- Pesalu / Whole Green Gram – 1 cup
- Jaggery – ½ cup
- Coconut- 4 tbsps, freshly grated
- Sonti / Dry Ginger powder – ¼ tsp
- Cardamom powder- ¼ tsp
Preparation Method
Roast the green gram till it starts changing color. Soak for an hour.
Drain the water and pressure cook with 1 ½ cups of water for one whistle.
Meanwhile make thick syrup of jaggery.
Strain the excess water from the cooked dal and mix in the jaggery syrup along with cardamom powder, dry ginger powder and grated coconut.
Sweet Pesalu Guggillu is ready with dry ginger powder flavor.
Word of Caution
The syrup should not be too watery or too thick (hard). It should be in a thick consistency, so that it coats the dal.
