Rava Laddu/ Suji Laddu




Rava Laddu

Ingredients

  • Rava/sooji                               -100 gms
  • Sugar                                       – 100 gms
  • Ghee                                        – 2tbsps
  • Coconut                                  -4 tbsps, freshly grated
  • Milk                                         – ½ cup
  • Cashew nuts                            -10-15, broken into two
  • Cardamom                              – 2
  • Raisins/Kismis             -10, optional

Preparation Method

Heat ghee in a pan, fry the cashew nuts till it has become golden brown color.

Remove the cashew nuts and fry rava in the same pan with the remaining ghee till a nice aroma comes.

Now add the grated coconut to the rava and fry for a minute.

Give the grated coconut, one whisk in the mixer grinder.

Switch off the flame and keep it in a tray.

Powder the sugar and cardamom together in a mixer.

Mix the rava-coconut mixture and sugar-cardamom powder thoroughly in the tray.

Boil the milk. Add milk little by little and start making balls.

Rava laddu’s are ready. Store it in an airtight container.

It will be good to use for a week.

Variations

  1. The sugar powder can be added directly to the rava on the stove top. Once the sugar starts melting, remove from the stove and start making laddu’s when its only. Milk can be sprinkled over the rava to make laddu’s easily.
  2. Steam cook the rava, sugar, coconut mixture using idly cooker or pressure cooker. Add cardamom powder, ghee and make the laddu’s. This will last only for 1 or 2 days.
  3. Make the roasted rava into powder. Mix sugar powder and rava powder thoroughly. With the help of hot ghee, make laddu’s.
