Ingredients
- Ulavalu / Horse Gram – ½ cup, sprouted
- Chenagalu / Chick Peas – ½ cup, sprouted
- Pesalu / Green Gram – ½ cup, sprouted
- Alasandalu / Black Eyed Peas – ½ cup, sprouted
- Dhaniya powder – 1 tbsp
- Senaga pappu / Channa Dal – 1 tbsp
- Dry red chillies – 3, broken into two
- Mustard seeds – 1 tsp
- Oil – 2 tsp
- Asafoetida/hingua a pinch
- Salt to taste
Preparation Method
Cook all the dals in pressure cooker along with salt and water for 2 whistles.
Drain the excess water.
Take a little oil in a pan and fry dhaniya powder, channa dal, dry red chillies & make a powder.
Heat oil in a pan & add mustard seeds.
Wait until it splutters & add the cooked dals and mix the powder.
Sprinkle the hingua powder, blend well and switch off the stove.
Serve the Guggillu as a snack or as a side dish for rice.
Variations
Instead of powder, you can add chopped coriander & curry leaves, onion and grated carrot with a dash of lemon juice. It will be a very tasty sprouts salad.
